Cave Diving

For most divers the thought of cave diving is mystifying and intriguing and definitely taboo for those without the proper training or experience. Our Cavern course is the first step in learning more about Cavern exploration. This is also the first step to "Intro to Cave Diving", and full Cave Certification. Understanding about safety lines, air limits, special equipment, the buddy system, lighting and safety procedures are just a few of the topics covered in this specialty. Open Water training is usually conducted in one of the Florida Springs which we frequent on a regular basis. For some of the clearest water in the world and an experience most will only dream about, join one of our PADI Tech Instructors for this exciting course.

The area located south of the Mexican Yucatan peninsula has been referred to as the Riviera Maya.  While being world renown for its beautiful beaches, this karsts terrain hides some of the most highly decorated and largest submerged cave systems in the world.

Pristine waters provide the qualified Cave diver with spectacular scenes such as these.

Formed during the last ice age, this vast underground world has remained little changed for thousands of years.  Entrance to this underground realm is gained from surface pools.

These pools, or Cenotes (Mayan for well), were generally formed when the cave  ceiling collapsed allowing the underground river to reach the surface.

George McCulley exits Mundo Escondido or Hidden World.

Other entrances to this fabulous world is gained through solution tubes formed by the ancient seas. One reason that many of the caves in this area have remained pristine is the logistical requirements needed just to get there.

Adventure, excitement, and ancient history await divers in the Akumal area.  Is cenote or cave diving for you?  Ask our resident Tech Diving Instructors - Renee, Tony, Chuck, Patrick or George about the correct training  to become and Tech diver.
